Safety, Ethics, and the Elephant in the Room

Description

This training will focus on assessing social worker safety. We have spent a great deal of time talking about client safety but have been lagging in our discussions around worker safety. Several states have enacted specific legislature to require annual safety training for all social service workers. Mental health services are increasingly being offered in families’ homes and communities at a time when we have reduced mental health funds for client services, reduced staffing of workers and reduced client supports. There have been numerous violent episodes towards mental health workers reported over the past several years.
